Just today everyone celebrated and at the same time was horrified that four American men out of White Plains New York were arrested after they planted bombs outside of the Riverdale Temple and the Riverdale Jewish Center in addition to preparing to shoot down a military plane. These men were caught in the act, will be found guilt and will serve time on America’s dime. Because the nature of this crime these men should receive as much time as they would have if the explosives would have gone off.
So here we have these domestic terrorists going to serve time in the very same facilities that Obama wants the terrorists from Gitmo to serve. Obama attempted to alleviate concerns about terrorists escaping from supermax prisons in his speech attempting to alleviate concerns on bringing terrorists into the American Judicial System by stating:
“…bear in mind the following fact: nobody has ever escaped from one of our federal “supermax” prisons, which hold hundreds of convicted terrorists.
Obama then supported his argument with the words of Senator Lindsey Graham when he stated:
“The idea that we cannot find a place to securely house 250-plus detainees within the United States is not rational.”
I don’t think that most people are concerned about terrorists escaping. I mean, where would they go? It is true that criminals don’t escape from maximum security prisons but what Americans should be terrified about is who the domestic terrorists will have the pleasure of meeting in the slammer. You got it….those same gitmo terrorists/combatants who attempted to kill American citizens in the first place. So what does that mean? It means that gitmo terrorists are going to have the opportunity to share information with domestic terrorists! Let me put it this way. American “supermaxes” are going to be a place in which American Tax Payers are going to fund the opportunity for professional terrorists to communicate and educate our domestic terrorist armatures. The American terrorist will always have the greater opportunity to go back into society before a gitmo terrorist will. So what happens the domestic one will go out rejuvenated, commit a terrorist crime or two and then be sent back to prison again. This process will happen over and over again with new recruits.
There is nothing wrong with playing word games with your friends and family all night because you know you will sleep all the better after an enjoyable night. However, there is something very wrong when the President of the United States attempts to play word games with the American citizen that he has vowed to help protect. No one sleeps very well and one thing that every American voter will be sure of and vote for….demonstrated safety. Obama says he wants to close Gitmo because of what it represents and to strengthen national security. Well, it is true that Obama is going to attempt to close gitmo down but what he has failed to realize is that no matter what you call it…a terrorist by any other name or location is still a terrorist.
