I just ordered Liberty and Tyranny: A Conservative Manifesto from amazon and will be getting it in a few days. If you have been listening to Levin you know he promotes the freedom of man with limited government.

man·i·fes·to n.  A public declaration of principles, policies, or intentions, especially of a political nature.

It is far too easy to just sit around and assume that the American Dream to create a life as you see fit is an axiom and a maxim that will always be preserved. In fact, why would you assume that anyone would want to deny the rights of men and women in a country that has done more for humanity than any other country in history?  But sadly, this is not the case. As Conservatives, we need to have a public declaration that we believe that all men and women have the right to live their lives in peace and to live as they see fit. We need to teach those around us that when the Government wants to control the well being and welfare of the people it represents through taxes, it not only takes away the value of the individual and property but also his/her freedom to create a better life.

How is it that the very representatives who were freely voted in are the very ones attempting to take away the rights and freedoms of others?  We need to get back to the mindset of the Founding Fathers and Colonial America that espoused the idea that taxes were for the purpose of taking care of the general welfare of the nation, state, and communities. Taxes are not for the purpose of taking property and life away from individuals to fund bad decisions of the government as was the case with the Stamp Act. Rather the purpose of taxes is to fund a boundaries in which the rights of Man are preserved.

Liberty and Tyranny is a book that helps solidifies conservative thought as well as an encouragement for those to become more vocal about preserving not only their rights but the rights of the children and grandchildren.  I am looking forward to reading this book.  Here is a description of the book from Amazon.

In the face of the modern liberal assault on Constitution-based values, an attack that has steadily snowballed since President Roosevelt’s New Deal of the 1930s and resulted in a federal government that is a massive, unaccountable conglomerate, the time for re-enforcing the intellectual and practical case for conservatism is now. Conservative beliefs in individual freedoms do in the end stand for liberty for all Americans, while liberal dictates lead to the breakdown of civilized society — in short, tyranny. Looking back to look to the future, Levin writes “conservatism is the antidote to tyranny precisely because its principles are our founding principles.” And in a series of powerful essays, Levin lays out how conservatives can counter the liberal corrosion that has filtered into every timely issue affecting our daily lives, from the economy to health care, global warming, immigration, and more — and illustrates how change, as seen through the conservative lens, is always prudent, and always an enhancement to individual freedom.

I try to not lean towards the prophetic, but think Jesus said it best in Matthew 12. Although He was speaking of a different scenario, the concept is the same. “how can anyone enter the strong man’s house and carry off his property, unless he first binds the strong man? And then he will plunder his house.” America stands as the “strong man.” We, as US citizens, do not set ourselves afloat for days upon end to find political freedom, for there is nowhere for us to repair. We are the last bastion.
Also, I believe that in order for a one world solution to come about, the world must be crippled to an extent that there seems no other option. To tear down the confidence of the freedoms that we hold dear is to empower the one who will “miraculously” give it back (with strong delusion, I might add). The talk of one world currency seemed, to some, so far-fetched, or at least distant 1 year ago; but now, it looms in our headlines. Stand up we must, but equally – prepare ye the way… and put on your seat belts.
